A lot of people think that coaching has its own philosophy. Which is true. How would you deal with a team that doesn't care about practices, have a poor attitude, and doesn't care if they win or lose. What do you do as a coach to try to change their mindset? Or do you not put in any effort what so ever because you know they won't care?
You need to have a team meeting and ask them why the team is there? Why is everyone playing? Once you get that information you can work off of that. As a coach you should always but forth effort for your team. It is your job as a coach to keep your team engaged and interested. So if your team has no motivation or doesn't care maybe you should change what you're doing in practice, make it more enjoyable for them. Make them want to come to practice and be excited about it.
ReplyDeleteI think as a coach, especially when you a new coach you have to find ways of motivating your athletes to work hard. I think a good way of doing this is by starting them off with rewards to get them excited about coming to practice. Then you should teach them a life lesson explain to them why what there doing is important. Then you bring them together under a come goal. I believe however the most important is getting the families involved as well because the athletes will then maybe want to play for there families.
ReplyDeleteDealing with a team like that would be difficult starting out as a coach. I know as a player, we would always give the coaches a hard time about doing certain drills or not understand why we would have to do the drills we do. If I were in that position, I would probably talk to my team before practices and say what we are going to work on and why we would. I'm sure you can attest for half of this because you help coach baseball.
